We’ve been speaking with a few sellers recently who have all asked a similar question: “What actually happens after we accept an offer?”

And it’s a really good question.

Accepting an offer is exciting, but there are still several stages to go through before the sale is complete — solicitors, surveys, mortgage offers, searches, enquiries, exchange and completion.

We know this part of the process can feel a little confusing, especially if you haven’t sold a property for a while. That’s why we’ve put together a simple guide explaining what happens after an offer is accepted, and what sellers can expect at each stage.

You can read the guide here: https://courtneydowningestates.co.uk/2026/05/12/what-happens-after-you-accept-an-offer-a-simple-guide-for-sellers/

For us, good communication throughout the entire process makes such a difference. From the first valuation and viewings, right through to offer, exchange and completion, sellers should feel informed and supported at every stage.

It helps keep everyone updated, avoids unnecessary confusion and means any questions or delays can be dealt with properly rather than being left to drag on.

That’s exactly how we approach things at Courtney Downing Estates. We don’t just market a property, agree a sale and step back. We stay involved, keep in touch with everyone where needed and do what we can to help the sale move forward smoothly.

If you’re thinking of selling and would like some friendly advice, we'd be happy to help.
