HOLD THE FUCKING LINE.
There’s this tiny moment where I think we abandon ourselves way more than we realise.
You send the message.
No reply.
Yikes.
Was that too much?
You read it again.
Maybe you came on too strong.
Maybe you should send another one to soften it.
Hold the line.
You put the post up.
Twenty minutes later, fuck all.
That was embarrassing.
You knew you shouldn’t have posted it.
Your thumb’s already hovering over delete.
Hold the fucking line.
You say no to someone.
They reply…
“Okay.”
Okay?
What the fuck does okay EVEN mean? 😂
Are they annoyed?
Maybe you should explain yourself.
Maybe you could actually still do it.
Hold the fucking line.
You put your price up.
Someone doesn’t buy.
There it is.
You’ve got too big for your boots.
Better drop it back down.
Hold the fucking line.
Because I don’t think we always change our minds because we’ve got new information.
Sometimes we change our minds because we can’t stand what happens inside us when we don’t immediately get reassurance that we’ve made the right decision.
So we reach for relief.
Delete it.
Explain ourselves.
Drop the price.
Send another message.
Say yes after we’ve already said no.
Ask everyone what they think.
And here’s the cheeky sausage.
it works.
You feel better.
For a minute.
The uncertainty goes away.
But sometimes the price of making yourself feel better is abandoning the thing you actually wanted.
So next time you get that itch to undo yourself...
Hold the fucking line.
Just long enough to find out what’s actually true.
HOLD THE FUCKING LINE.
