Happy International Women's Day 2021!
Covid-19 has put a stop to many things this year. But one thing still very much on the calendar is International Women’s Day (IWD) with this years theme “Choose to Challenge”.
The day is celebrated and supported globally by industry, governments, educational institutions, community groups, professional associations, women's networks, charities and non-profit bodies, the media and more.
Every person and all groups can make a difference within their sphere of influence by taking concrete action to help build a more gender equal world. From small powerful grassroots gatherings to large-scale conference and events - International Women's Day is celebrated everywhere. It's a big day for inspiration and change.
The pandemic has also bought its own unique challenges for women - from job losses to a rise in domestic abuse and the pressures of home-schooling, making the need for this year’s IWD more pressing than ever. Although the day was started a century ago, there are still very good reasons to mark it now.
"Feminism isn't about making women strong. Women are already strong. It's about changing the way the world perceives that strength." - Elizabeth Cady Stanton
