At one company, I wasn’t even allowed to say it. It had to be ‘learning’ or ‘development.’
But training? Noooooooo. That had a bad reputation.
It was in the tone and way that people spoke about it—
→ ‘Anyone can do training, right?’
→ ‘It’s just standing up and presenting.’
→ ‘It didn’t work; people didn’t change.’
→ ‘How do you even know it has an impact?’
I drank the cultural Kool-Aid, turning into a self-proclaimed ‘training snob.’
And wow, the energy spent ‘educating’ stakeholders, pushing the language shift.

I love designing, building and delivering training.
If you understand the power of exceptional training, then you will know this. 👇
→ Skilled trainers get to know the business and the learners; they never assume.
→ They dedicate time to scoping and researching diligently.
→ They help you measure the tangible impact and financial value of training.
→ They don’t need slides; they utilise neuroscience to make learning stick.
→ They create psychologically safe, engaging, energising learning spaces.
→ They use the diversity and lived experiences in the room to bring learning to life.
→ The best trainers are willing to challenge the client to achieve better outcomes.
→ The best trainers are in it for the people they will work with, not themselves.
Look for trainers that bring all of this and more.
